Scrap Around The World Celebration!

Hi friends, I'm here with my submission for Scrap Around The World's mega birthday bash!  It is flipping fantastic, there are uber awesome prizes up for grabs from some of the best in the biz.  It's the one year birthday for this great challenge site and I couldn't not participate :D Click on their name to go straight to this months challenge.  It's fantastic!

Here's a pic of the mood board -

Aren't the colors just yummy this month?  I love the minty green and the pinks.  How you interpret the board is entirely up to you.  I did a step out to show how I created my layout.  I was going to do a video, but when I went under my desk to get my tripod, mysteriously it's gone.  No one knows where, the sucker just pulled its legs out and walked away.  Now I know my memory has become really bad, but I think I'd know if I put it somewhere else, and sadly I can't remember when I saw it last.  Oh well.

I used corrugated box for some peek a boo spots, and texture paste, lots of layers in stamping and matting.  Here are my step by step pics

This was just a wonderful inspiration board this month.  My title, Live Joyously says it all.  Life is a celebration and you should try your hardest to be happy.  It goes quick and can be way too short for some so always spread some sunshine around :)  I pulled a bit of this and that such as the balloons, the jute rope around the packages, the colors and the theme of celebrate.

Here's the finished piece -

Let me tell you about the paper.  It's 7 Dots and it's wonderful.  Nice thick paper that holds up to mixed media like a champ!  This is my very first time working with it and I love it.  I ordered a few pieces so I'll hoard them a bit.  My hot air balloon chippie is from Blue Fern Studios.  I've been just waiting to use it and this was perfect for it.  I gessod and them used some of my Ayeeda paints and my Lindy mists.  Some stickles down the ropes and the tippity top.  I also glued some micro beads at the corner in the left of the basket.

The pic is of me and my youngest boy Santino and my youngest granddaughter Gianna cherry picking.  That can is filled to the top with luscious cherries and we filled two others!

Celebrate

Hello and happy Thursday people!  So glad it's almost the weekend :)  I did a layout using Prima's Lyric line.  Some very pretty paper.  Lots of layering and textures in this one. The pic is from our cherry picking adventure last June. WOW, it's almost June again!!  I most certainly will go cherry picking again because they were so darn delicious and the pie I made with them was off the hook fantastic!  I'll tell ya what, I'll post the recipe for the pie and my homemade crust the next time I do it.  I no longer buy frozen crusts any more and the whole thing is very simple.

I digress, back to scrappiness :) I also used their Fairybelle and Pastiche line for matting the pic.  I have the 8x11 stack.  That line is just gorgeous too.  I pulled out very old rub-ons from Oriental Trading that I've had oh I'd say about 6 or so years.  Imagine this!  I have stash so old it's not even funny.  That's why Craft Hoarders Anonymous is the bomb! Go check out this month's challenge, Ribbon, Lace, and Twine Oh My!  Phew, a little a-d-d today, back to the layout.  I used cheesecloth and Tim Holt'z tissue tape underneath along with my Ayeeda Paint and some texture paste and stencil work.  Check it out -

Can you believe how cheesy these girls of mine are being?  They crack me up.  The flowers are all Prima, don't ask which line, I'm clueless just know they're Prima ;)  The little sayings in the top left corner of the pic was some printables I got from Pinterest.  That darn place is the BOMB!!  Inking and distressing, border punch on the top and bottom edge and a paper doily under it too.  I have embraced "whatever".  What does that mean you ask, or maybe you don't but I'll answer anyway, it's the letting go of worrying about where things go or how it'll look.  I just plopped down tissue tape, then painted over it, then did my mask then layered the mats.  Just go and be free, if what you put on gets covered up for the most part, don't stress just be :)  I also use some foam squares to pop up my pic and mats so I can tuck for more dimension and layering.  I hope you like it.

My body is slowing down as it always does at the end of the school year.  Running them and picking them up at three different times then if I have errands that day and chores boy I'm beat up. It is taking its toll on me so I start dragging about now.  One month left! And mama is coming with my two nieces for three weeks next month, I can't wait!

Thanks for coming by :)

Swirlydoos Round Robin Week Two

Hi folks!  Today I have a layout I did for Swirlydoos Kit Club Round Robin Lots of Flowers challenge. We're broken into groups and each week the next person in their respective group has to lift the layout of the person before them.  This is my first rr and I had fun creating.

The person I had to lift from made a gorgeous layout.  Her name is Christy and she does just beautiful work!  Check out her blog *Creating With The Girls*  Here's her layout -

Isn't it pretty :)  This is my take on it -

This paper is Prima's Optimist line.  WOW!!  I fell in love with the line when I saw it, bought a bunch then was a little intimidated by it.  Well, ya know what?  I'm tired of being intimidated by my papers and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!  I took my bubble wrap and Ayeeda paints, thinned them a bit with water and painted on the wrap. Then I stamped all around the page.  I also used my white marker, and guess what?!  I friggin doodled, yeah that's right I DOODLED!!  Next to where I ripped the page, then up in the top right corner, then little dots in various places around the page :)  It was liberating.  Circle chipboard from Creative Embellishments that I gesso'd then used my Faber Castell Gelatos to color it. Lord knows where would I be without my butterflies.  I love them, and the flowers are a combo of Recollection (little turquoise) and the artificial flowers from a hair wreath my daughter made for my father in law's Luau party.  I used my Silks Acrylics in the center of a few of them for more pop. My butterflies were misted and I misted the chippie with some Jack Frost. The little leaves in the left hand corner got hit with mist too.

So while Christy's background is Moroccanesque I went with circles. I had a blast and I'm just going to feel free to paint over, color, splatter and not worry about covering up the paper anymore!
